Guide to finding 2000s kpop specific 'left' sites/blog

How to find 2000s-2010s blogs and more?

Have you ever come across a post where they talk about old website's the maker has found? I often come across video's where they show ways to find old, for example, Gyaru magazines. Today I'm gonna explain how you can find kpop related 2000s to 2010s blogs and more. I will be making another guide to the way back machine but today I'm gonna give a simple guide so you will not have to go through all of these videos or more.

Understanding 2000s-2010s kpop blogs and more

If you're a newer fan you might not be aware that 'kpop' wasn't really a term before the 2010's, I believe around 2014 this became an often used term. Before that people just referred to the group or member. Sometimes as Korean music. In South Korea there's multiple terms they used for non pop/hiphop music like the word Gayo (가요), which stands for traditional Korean music but used to refer to Kpop before the term Kpop aswell. Ever came across the word 'Hallyu'? Fandom around the 1990-2000s are often referred to as Hallyu wave or a wave of popularity to 'Hallyu'. Which I personally find a very racist term so I rather not use it. A lot of people claim Seo Taiji and the boys was the first 'globally known' kpop groups although I don't really agree on that since the pioneering of Kpop went in a LOT of ways. It wasn't just "Hey guys this is Seo Taiji and the boys and they're now Kpop". The term 'kpop' comes from Korean Hip-Hop. Just because Seo Taiji and the boys were the first popular hip hop group doesn't mean they are the 'first' kpop group. And yes this is fucking controversial to say so please don't cancel me.

Around 2006 fan forums and fan blogs became super popular, they didn't just talk about the idols but also put a lot of effort in translating, getting all their existing photo's on their site, photoshopped wallpapers, fanevents and even fanprojects and reaching the artist. Nowadays people underestimate the old fandom thinking it's just some forum to talk about the artist, but it's wayyy more than that. Most of these blogs exist from blogger and a few more sites, which I'll mention later.

Find a group/fandom you like

So, next thing you wanna do is choose a group that was popular around the 2000s-2010s. To make it easier for yourself you could go with a group that gained popularity around 2008-9. But if you really want to you can go earlier. I'm personally a really big B.A.P, TVXQ and B2ast fan. So yeah just make sure to find a group that was popular. Here's a list of common and easy to find groups:

Snds/Girls generation
TVXQ/DBSK/Tohoshinki
SS501
SHINee
Big Bang
SuJu/Super Junior
Code name blue
F.T island
Beast/B2ast
2PM
2NE1
Children of empire/ZE:A
JQT
SHU-I
Younha
MBLAQ
Boa
F(x)

And ofcourse more! Just do some research on a group you like for any reason.

Let's start the search!

Today I'm gonna focus on SS501 and TVXQ. To start this I'm gonna search on google:

"TVXQ blogger" or "TVXQ fanblog". Keep in mind that TVXQ has a lot of names so you could also go for DBSK or Tohoshinki and more!

As for SS501 I'm gonna do the same!

As you're able to see right here, you'll immediately get LiveJournal, Wordpress and Blogger. If you have trouble finding blogs I suggest using this website/archive: shu-i.diromo (web.archive). You'll be easily able to find blogs, forums and more. It's dated and it shows what it exists off.

Now let's do the same with SS501! This is my first time researching them but I bought some merch a bit ago so I'll have to.

To be very honest, I'm kinda dissapointed in the results of the SS501 one, but we're gonna keep looking for me, we'll get there eventually. I gotta be honest this is quite hard for SS501, I do find stuff but not exactly what I'm looking for as a tutorial. I will try to keep searching through google.

So next up I got the perfect example for a blog for TVXQ! :

fanaholic (wordpress)

Why did I choose this website? To show you guys something very usefull in your search. On wordpress you often see a section called: 'Our Affiliates'. You'll see either names, blinkies or stamps attached to it. Because it's an old site not all pictures work anymore and most become lost media sadly

Right next to this you see an example of it. As you can see manyyyyy lost images which I find really sad. You can still press on the small icon and get to the website. Let's press on the top one.

Ok so, the top one doesn't work anymore because of 'unsupported protocol', In my planned guide to the way back machine we might be able to get on the website.

So after trying some of the link I found: hanleidbsk (wordpress). This is a blog from August 2008 up to 2010.

I do recommend using wordpress for this but blogger and more are also possible. You can also use the waybackmachine but again, I'll show that another time.

Rules of re-posting these blogs

Ofcourse, there are no official rules but I do not reccomend posting/reposting a blog where someone's face can be found on. These people are real adults now and might be emberassing for them to find their old blog somewhere. Also a lot of them are younger kids, so please just don't. Another rule I always have is if someone posts their exact adress, yes, even if it's outdates, just don't. Like I mentioned before there's no specific rules but please keep these in mind while making a post.

My links

So I make posts about archived blogs and here you can find them. I've only been focussing on DSBK/TVXQ recently but I'm currently researching about other fandoms aswell so stay tuned!!

Post one levi1nnn (tumblr)
Working on post 4 !!!

That's the tutorial/guide of today. Don't feel troubled to sent a message or question. On my requests you can sent a request of a blog or a whole post about a certain group. I'm now working on the last part of the TVXQ blog series so stay tuned for that. I'm sad I couldn't find any good SS501 examples but maybe another time!!

Sasaeng's and stalkers (not fully finished)

Sasaeng's and stalkers

I wrote this on word so some things might not work, please let me know if this is true

Part 1.

WARNING: because this is written in a doc I cannot sensor certain words so be cautious. Mentions of SH and blood (period blood..) and ofcourse mentions of dead. Some info MIGHT be wrong or fake. For educational purpose.

Out of all kpop groups Tvxq and EXO are one of the groups that are known to have extreme stalkers, from poisoned drinks to photo's of them sleeping? Especially in gen 1-2 kpop and early gen 3 these cases were quite rough and the protection for the idols self was like.. gone? Decided to make a post about it because I have nothing beter to do. Some of this information might not be 100% true when it comes down to the small details.

What is a Sasaeng? Sasaeng is a name for a stalker in kpop, an obsessive fan who tries to get inside the private life's of idols, not just kpop but also actors. The word Sasaeng '사생팬' also stands for 'private life'. It is calculated that every big kpop star or actor has around 500-1000 stalkers aka Sasaengs. (This is ofcourse not always the exact amount). Sasaengs often try to get their private phone numbers, Airline dates, locations and even bank accounts numbers (which is rare though). Anti-fans are people who highly dislike a certain idol and still consume all of their media out of hatred and try to damage the idol or sometimes even attack them. Another term for Sasaengs are 'Stan' fan, coming from the song stan from eminem.

Yunho poisoning (antifan attack):

Tvxq member Yunho was rushed to the hospital on October 14, 2006 after drinking, what he thought was 'orange juice'. He drank the whole bottle thinking it just tasted weird but started feeling nauseous and sick shortly after. He got his stomach pumped out and later it was revealed the bottle was given by a anti fan and included glue. The girl got arrested but he didn't press charges against her.

Jaejoong Sasaengs:

Tvxq & JYJ member Hero Jaejoong has so many situations. There are some crazy picture's out there took by a sasaeng where Jaejoong is sleeping in a men's sauna and later, Jaejoong revealed in an interview some Sasaengs had photo's inside his house and even sent them to him. He had to change the doorlock. Apparently he once moved houses and a Sasaeng had rented an apartment on the same floor across his. He apparently also kept having his doorbell rang and he called the police but the police told him he shouldn't call the police on his fans (WTF). He kept moving houses.

JYJ & TVXQ/DBSK:

JYJ is a group formed from 3 members that left TVXQ. TVXQ became a duo. Sasaengs often targeted TVXQ and JYJ. Fans blocked service to TVXQ's phone's and checked their contacts to see if they had any girls saved in their phone. One of the members changed his phone number and shortly after he got messages asking why he changed his phone number. They received gift's like.. Menstrual blood and underwear . < I hope this get's censored. In 2012 some fans somehow installed camera's in Yoochun's private garage. There is footage of him hiding from the camera's (unsuccessfully) before walking into his own house. Some sasaengs had been following the group for 8 years. There were gps trackers on their private cars and TVXQ had been filmed and audio recorded multiple times while they were mad or angry at fans AND HAD TO APOLOGISE HELLO??? There is even more to this like 120 taxi's following them etc. Yoochun was slapped in his face in 2012 so he would 'remember' her. A list of JYJ stalking cases < here even more in debt details about the stalking cases. Please note that some information might not be real. Wikipedia has a section about JYJ and TVXQ about sasaengs.

Shinhwa:

Shinhwa is a 1st gen kpop group with a lot of controvery and I don't feel like going over all of the controversial stuff they have done since I'm focusing on sasaengs. Till this day some of the members apparently still get stalked. One time in 2019 Kim Dong Wan posted on instagram about a sasaeng coming to his house and sending him a letter saying: "it was freaking hard to find your house." Dongwan shared one time his license plate was stolen and he got it back because the sasaengs camped in front of his dorm/house. In 2020 a fan trespassed Dongwan's house multiple times jumping over the fences and he called them out. Some more info I found, not sure if it's trustable. I found it hard to find older info of their stalking and sasaeng cases. There have been interviews with their old sasaengs in which they (the stalkers) reveal they had gone to their dorms. One of the girls said the members gave them money so they would go, although I don't know if I can believe this or not. Site and another post I came across.

As for H.O.T, There is a lot of people talking about their sasaengs but not much has prove. I would love to talk about it in part 2 if I can find the information. If any1 has some trustable links please dm me. Shinhwa shared that when they went to H.O.T's dorm had a basement place and fans had written creepy texts there mentioning they had heard them talk with things written like: "I love to hear my oppa's talk". Apparently like any other groups they also received letters with blood.

BTOB:

BTOB aka Born to Beat is a gen 3 kpop group that debuted around 2012. There's footage of fans following them (like any other group) and getting in their personal space WITHOUT any protection or bodyguards getting rid of them. Their sasaengs found their houses (like most sasaengs) and kept knocking on their windows and doors. Back when they first debuted they got criticised for not knowing how to handle sasaengs or like any other groups just nicely ask them to leave them alone. Info, although some people in the comments denied certain thins. Apparently there were a lot of fansites who posted fake or like private information about the members. More on Koreaboo about the situation.

2PM:

Just like most groups metioned, member Ok Taecyeon also got mailed a letter written in menstrual blood and it said: "You can't live without me". Junho of 2pm mentioned he got stalked to his house and attempted to break in aswell. Nichkhun and Taecyeon shared mentioned they got scared after a fan broke into their hotel in Singapore, he shared they got especially scared because they don't wear clothes when they sleep. They heard their door open and the card thing beep midnight; “I was sleeping, and Taecyeon was cursing so much that I woke up asking, ‘What is it? What’s going on?’ Then I screamed because there were people standing in front of me. I was so shocked. Because I’d been asleep.” Taecyeon; “We told the hotel about it, and as an apology, they gave us champagne.” Knowing Bros Episode 287(?). When I was searching for 2pm details I found some fucking disturbing accounts by actual sasaengs who stalked multiple of the members. Especially shitting and being anti-fans to the members with dating 'scandals' < which I think shouldn't even be considered a scandal. And Ok Taecyeon shared on twitter he got stalked on mail aswell: link

MBLAQ:

Again, a blood letter this time to one of the members of MBLAQ Lee Joon, it was posted online and read: "Don't forget me, Lee Chang-sun. I only have you. I love you". Her caption said: "What was that Ok Taecyeon fan's blood writing. Period blood is so gross. I'll show what blood writing is." Source. MBLAQ member G.O mentioned on his youtube channel that there were also stalking cases for them where the fans would jump over a wall to be able to see them from their windows. Later they knocked on their door because their knees hurt from jumping over. They gave them ointment but the group didn't trust them fully. Since their door was already open they basically had to get ointment.

Covering EXO, SHINee and Big Bang for sure in part 2, I will also talk about girl groups. I wanna mention one thing: if I mentioned any miss information please let me know in the comments. I might have made accidental grammer mistakes since english is not my first language.

I used multiple resources for the information I found, I'm not sure if I should source everything but I tried my best to mention the sites I atleast used the most. Also: I don't fully support the site Koreaboo for personal reasoning. (AKA: spreading fake rumours and damaging artists)

^ this was for tumblr since I originally intended to make a second part so I’ll tell ya when I did so. (Tumblr kept refusing me to upload it)

Part 2.

In this part I’ll be covering Exo, SHINee and Big Bang +++

Again, your casual warning this includes extreme stalking, blood and dead mention. A small warning but I have some actual proof of certain situations, PLEASE for the love of god don’t open these if you DO NOT want to be flashed by blood or anything else. This is some extra resources just in case:

2pm blood letter (WARNING BLOOD)

Let’s continue with the story since tumblr hates me and doesn’t want me to upload this. Out of every kpop group mentioned in part 1, I think TVXQ has one of the most bizarre things happened to them. Ofcourse, every case is not excusable but, in this post, I wanted to talk about a case alike TVXQ with a lot more prove. Since TVXQ is a gen 2(?) group it’s hard to find actual evidence to the situation.

Exo:

I think every kpop fan knows Exo or has heard of Exo atleast once. Exo debut in 2012 so they are considered gen 3 kpop group. They are often credited for the ‘start’ of gen 3 kpop. After their first album fans went insane like it had a million sells in a year wtf. They started as a 12 members group with 2 subunits (EXO-K & EXO-M) > although the 2 subunits only existed for 2 years. It’s an extremely hard system to understand since they have new units and everything. So I’m not gonna explain how everything works. Exo is also often credited for being one of the first groups with lore.

So let’s begin, this might take up a whole fuckass page or 2 (wtf). I found this list of info up to 2014. Check it out if you’re curious since I did take some info from this. PLEASE DO NOT RANDOMLY OPEN THIS IT HAS EXTREME SH WARNING AND EVEN MORE. Honestly feel like I’m going sane when getting this info. Another blog on this. AGAIN BE CAREFUL FOR UNWANTED PICS. This blog does post a lot about 2018- idols and has really interesting pages and has over 100 pages btw.

In like 2013 Kai, member of Exo, fell while he was standing near stairs at an airport because a fan grabbed him. MIND YOU, they had only debut a fucking year ago?! He fell, injured his knees and chin and his nearby co member Luhan injured his hand. A Fan blog in 2013 talking about the incident. This fan blog writes:

“Because fans pushed Kai in the airport, he fell from the railing of the terminal and maybe he tripped on his feet... at that time we were trying to control the situation but the fans were totally out of control. Kai fell so hard, and after, he looked to the group members. With teary eyes, he said "Noona it hurts so much..." He tried to get up by himself but he couldn't, and so the other members helped him, and all of the members looked so shocked and sad.

-EXO-M missed the flight with EXO-K due to Luhan's, Lay's and Tao's visa problems. EXO-M may not perform in DFKC due to passport problems.”

At a hotel in America a sasaeng placed camera’s and recording microphones in the bathrooms and got an audio recording of member Tao showering and humming under the shower and took photo's aswell. (I’m not sure if she got any photo’s while Tao was actually naked BUT I would never spread them. I’m just not sure how far she went). What gets me thinking by this situation is that the sasaeng placed the camera's and mic’s acknowledged of their stay. I’m not sure how they found out but she probably wanted to get the footage later. But, this is apparently not the first time they got stalked in the fucking bathrooms?? They had to split up and acted like Bodyguards so the other members could go to the toilets?! HELLO?? Even worse there were fans whole sold fucking frozen urine of them, and not just urine. ALSO: mucus/poop/pubes/hair and underwear. I’m obviously not sure what of this is true but the hair and underwear has been confirmed, just like the urine. (How tf did they get that tho insane bruhh)

Ok I need to stop here real quick. I found a lot more photo’s of TVXQ’s stalkers. It’s rare to find photo’s and prove nowadays so just trying to sum up a lot. I found even more photo's taken by hidden camera's.

There actual is some photo's inside apartment, more, more at an airport and more inside the apartment by the same camera taken by sasaengs. Which is fucking absurd. Someone gifted them a teddy with cameras inside the eyes aswell, luckily, he got it at an airport and airport security had noticed the cameras inside it in time. In 2013 again, another microphone caught them swearing while playing games with the girl group A pink and one of the Exo members was already rumoured to be dating a member of A pink so fans went crazy of course. A sasaeng texted member Suho (who was the one rumoured to be dating an A pink member).

Some more sasaeng behaviour: Member Xiumin couldn’t enjoy his vacation in 2016 and was cornered by sasaengs while on vacation. A girl pretended to be the gf of Sehun?? How tf do these ppl not have shame. Like I mentioned before: sasaeng claiming to sell underwear with hair to test for DNA of member D.O. Sasaeng wrote on the mirrors "I love you" in their waiting rooms. The girl who sold the underwear of D.O uploaded pictures claiming to be the contact list of member Tao and alleged conversations between him and F(x) member Luna.

Big bang

Enough about Exo, they have insaneeeee sasaengs and I am possibly planning on giving them a guide and I'll add even more fucking parasocial behaviour that happened and was going on. Let's go over Big Bang. Before I talk about Big Bang, I wanna mention that I do NOT support ot5 Big bang and I DONT like Seungri he is part of this ofcourse so I will mention his cases but.. yes. He's a veyy interesting person ok?

Let's start with Seungri so we're done with him as soon as possible... on December 23, 2013, Seungri had a car accident in Shanhai because a fan's vehicle hit the staff's vehicle and Seungri's vehicle got hit. On his X post he mentioned it wasn't anyone's fault and he wasn't hurt. So obviously we don't know whether or not it was an antifan, sasaeng or just a general fan. I doubt it was a 'general' fan though. Why TF would she drive behind them if she wasn't a sasaeng..?

Like all the other idols I've mentioned, just like them did Gdragon and Taeyang receive blood letters multiple times from the same persons. In 2016 Top made an instagram post talking pleading Chinese fans to stop visiting his house he mentioned he kept jumping and flinching and getting scared to death everytime the doorbell was pressed in the middle of the night. He mentioned he let it go and held back but he would be reporting it to the police if it kept happening.

Big bang got trapped in their van because they were surrounded by fans and some of them told them they would only leave if they took pictures.

Stay tuned, more kpop/tpop stuff coming soon to my blog!

As everyone probably already knows, one of my hyper fixations is kpop is specific. I'm a diagnosed autistic person and I can't talk to much about it with anyone because I've lost friends because of it and also my parents get tired of me. Soooo yeah another reason to make a blog.

I wanna like, remind you guys that I use 0 ai and yes, I made all of these ideas in my own brain lmaooo, even my stupid lists which costs me hours of research. You can probably notice it by my bad placements of , and () so yeah...

Yes, It's considered cringe, but idgaf. Why would I limit my interests or hide it because it can be a 'cause' of bullying? I mean, bothering someone to much with it is something I actively try to look out for. Anyways, I'm planning to upload more posts on my blog about kpop and I also have very specific ideas already of which some are already done but not uploaded yet. Boundaries

Shit that can ruin our friendship or damage

Mentioning me to often in chats. This one sounds really confusing, I love to get checked up on and spamming me with texts is always okay but mentioning me over and over again irritates me. Just sent me a chat in my private chat but DONT and I mean DONT spam me with tags. I have an own personal life and I get really irritated when someone tries to push something upon me while working on something else. I reply when I have the mental stability to. Again, just add me and sent a single message because I might not even open chats.

Calling me terms I don't like. This one might make some people visiting maybeee a bit shaken since a lot of my friends do this. Some terms I don't wanna be called, and yes this can make me stop wanting to talk to you:

Femboy, 'acts like a girl', tranny, The gay friend, faggot, feminine and Twink, I am extremely insecure about looking and acting like a girl and I try everything to NOT be that. If you genuinely call me that or called me that, thank you so much for making me feel extremely uncomfortable and almost being the reason I quit school.

Koreaboo, Asianfisher or Sasaeng. I'm extremely happy being German/French and very proud of my nationality and Ethnicity. I do not want to be Asian in any way and I would never 'fish' to look asian either. Liking Kpop and Thai culture doesn't make me an Asianfisher or Koreaboo. Also, I'm quite happy that I'm not Korean but that has personal reasons. Also find it fucking weird how Sasaengs exist like leave people tf alone? I HAVE FUCKING SEEN ONE THAT WAS STALKING SOMEONE JUST FOR BEING ASIAN AND BEING A FETISHIZER BFFR. That's just not ok.

Non poc saying the N word. This should be a basic reason to not want to be friends with someone. Just get out and never return tbh.

Calling me she... yes. This can make me not like you. If you did it once that's okay but if you do it a couple times pleaseeeee stop. I lit am a guy so stop. I already overthink everything I do and just don't be the reason I feel more uncomfortable.

Not being able to share my interests without being judged. Its as simple as that, this includes jokes and I know you're watching because everyone does this.

Acting like I'm some small kid, yes I'm 1.73 and I'm still growing. Just because I'm small and autsistic and see things different is no reason to baby talk to me. I'm lit almost an legal adult. EVEN IF IM IN FUCKING HIGHSCHOOL, EVEN TEACHERS DO IT. Also hate it when someone finds joy in 'teasing' me because I feel looked down on.

Pushing your religion upon me and having it as main subject. I think religion is a beautiful thing, but, I'm Buddhistic and there will never be a chance I will join any religion aside from the very spiritual part (aka Hinduism, Taoism and Shinto). I grew up Buddhistic and I will stay Buddhistic. Sharing your stories and culture is always okay. Feel free to tell me a story about your religion you like or tell me you went to church!

Embarrassing me in front of others. It's as simple as that. Maybe a little is funny but if you notice me clearly not liking it stop.

Misinterpret me and saying your immediate assumptions in front of others. JUST DONT AHAAGAGUDIUGFWIYV

Making fun of my interests while I'm respecting yours.

"Man up" yeah no stfu.

Treating mental health like a trend or aesthetic.

Asking me why I have scars. It's annoying and none of your business unless we're VERY good friends.

Making me feel guilty about wanting space. Please sometimes I do not want to walk with you everywhere and I just wanna unstress alone.

Only being able to talk about one specific interest of yours that I'm not interested in and ignoring me or my interests and this has been happening a lot lately.

Somethings I want others to tell me: Please tell me if you dont like hugs or tell me when I smell bad.

Why I've been struggling with kpop lately.

Why is kpop so different...

Kind of a short post but one of my major anxieties as diagnosed autistic person is randomly waking up and deciding I don't like a certain something anymore. Very specifically: Kpop. I've been liking and hyperfixated about kpop since 2016, although, I got introduced to kpop in 2013. Lately I've been feeling extremely lost because of this. Since the groups I stan and like are super different compared to the latest generation. They're wayyyy older and often have a veryy different aesthetic. I'm scared I'll stop liking kpop especially when I see where it's going. I'm a very sensitive person so these major points add a lot of weight to being a kpop fan.

Popularity increasing

In elementary school I did talk about liking kpop, I was already weird enough so a lot of people simply didn't bully me due to liking kpop. But talking about it wasn't a very good idea either. I know that in cerounding countries kpop was a more popular thing. I grew up in the Netherlands but my parents are both German and my mom is French. In France for example I remember it being more common to like, especially Exo was popular back in the days. When I got into middle school, I got extremely bullied after I told someone I liked kpop. This was around 2020. I was honestly surprised she knew what Kpop was but I started to realise slowly that it had become more popular. I didn't like it at all, since I'm a very expressive person when it comes to major interests. It was basically impossible to talk about it.

Now, 6 years later (2026), I feel like the world knows kpop now. It isn't very fun in my opinion. I'm happy for my ult groups, mainly bts, that they get the popularity they deserve. But at the same time, people call every small detail out and get a lot wrong about kpop (good example is kpop demon hunters). Even lore doesn't really exist nowadays and every interviewer has seen atleast 1 major kpop group. Another thing I fuckingggg hate is that newer fandoms shit on albums and fandom wars have become worse than ever..

Another example is something I've seen my fandom's joke about : influencers 'liking' kpop for views and using it to gain more people. Like it irritates me. You don't have to know everything about a group and you can always be a baby *insert fandom name*. But please for the love of god don't fake like a group. Or liking kpop for the trend.

Toxic fandom

Ofcourse, when I joined tiktok wasn't really a thing yet. You had other social media's like musically but there wasn't that much kpop content on there. I feel like around 2020 kpop started becoming extremely more popular. Especially with groups like Enhypen, P1harmony, Treasure, StayC and Aespa debuting and Bts's songs like Boy with love, Dynamight and butter coming out. A lot more fans, especially on tiktok. But the more years get added since, the younger and the more unmature the fandom has become. Average fan nowadays is around the 13 or if they've watched kpop demon hunters 8. Like Emma, you're 12. No, Straykids's Felix WONT date you.

I've lately seen people BEING MAD at kpop groups even having the slightest interactions between other groups. Another thing I've been noticing is newer fans getting mad at shipping?? Brother wouldn't have survived Taekook or LisaJimin bruhhh. Or people mad at fanfics because they're inappropriate while the artist self reads them for a laugh. Or people genuinely being sexist. OR people calling kpop males homophobic or racist without any evidence. Or people being mad that a kpop idol said 니가 aka "YOU' IN FUCKING KOREAN BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE THE NWORD. Why are we getting mad brother. Bffr..

Koreaboo becoming a thing

If your not into kpop you might not know where the word 'koreaboo' came from. Koreaboo is originally a website with articles about Korean artists. Although I'm suspecting they're not just an article site but also sasaeng's (which means stalkers) because they always have the most stupid and unreal articles to bring down artists and rumours that obv aren't real. So... koreaboo is someone who is basically asianfishing and wants to be Korean, they often fetishize Koreans and fake being Korean online. Or, what I've also seen, call themselves Rcts which sort of stands for Race change. Obv, if you're white, your white. But the word Koreaboo is thrown around like crazy. Liking Korean culture to the point of learning the language is in NO WAY being a Koreaboo. Even I, myself have been called Koreaboo and funfact I fucking HATE Korea! And I'm really proud being German/French even though I sometimes have an identity crisis because I grew up in a different country than that. My interests when it comes to a country is Thailand. Would I want to live in Thailand and do I like the culture, food and learn the language? Yes. Do I want to be Thai and fake being Thai online? HELL FUCKING NO. I feel like people are incredibly stupid and annoying about liking an asian country. Because if you like England does that make you an 'Englandboo' OFCOURSE NOT. I think with kpop becoming more and more popular a lot more people want to be Korean as if it's a fun country with absolutely not having the high bullying rates and suicide rates.

Some examples

Like I said before, not only the fandom is very different but the difference is Aesthetics is insanely different aswell (especially with rich kids becoming kpop idols). My major gen 2 groups have a veryyy difference in Aesthetics and I just know newer gen's will make fun of their aesthics. And with newer gen's I'm talking about trend hoppers. One fun example I have seen over the internet is older groups debuting as losers and newer groups looking extremely fresh.

Some examples of group's debuting as losers:

Skz is a good example as I think they're one of the last and latest 'loser' groups. Their debut was not extremely low budget since it is Mnet and a survival show. Correct me if I'm wrong. I think Mnet saw the opportunities with them. They're also lucky to have 3acha in the group. I love their concept and lesbian aunt haircut Felix adds the loser ish concept. But skz is also known to make less typical and more 'powerful' music.

TVXQ aka TBSK orrr Tohoshinki is a group debuted in 2004 and they became more and more popular in 2008-2009 (only to partly disband in 2011). I feel like when we're talking about early losers they are a great example. Fun fact! They have the name Tohoshinki because they focused mainly on Japan and as you might be able to see they took inspiration from early 2000's Japanese host clubs. They also have incredibly much Japanese solo albums.

Bts is VERY known for their debut era, they were poor guys picked and 1 even got kidnapped on the fucking streets. They had zero money and no more dream (this joke is fucking cringe but i had to sorry). Probably every prop in their first mv is from temu bro. I love how they took inspiration from Hip hop and groups like TVXQ, Big bang and probably MBLAQ. I believe they loved Big bang the most since there's old clips of them dancing and singing their songs.

Big bang originally debut with 5 members but one is uhh.. out of the picture. I might make another blog about extreme scandals specifically this the burning sun one but let's move on. Big bang is like max losers and became quite immediately popular so far I know. The leader aka G dragon (GD) has been a kpop idol his whole life, which I find sad at the same time. They were not low budget at all BUT took inspiration from Hip hop and GD is actually the pioneer of multiple things and normalising 'weird' stuff in Korean culture like dyeing hair.

Decided to add a girl group: Baby V.O.X. I know you have heard of them. For sure actually. Although no one knows them anymore, their messy scandals are super huge. One in specific is 2 members faking their age. I also believe there was a bullying scandal within the group where certain members bullied each other although that information has never been confirmed to my knowledge. Anyways, super messy and definitely loser aesthetics. They were extremely late 90s inspired aswell.

Why it's completely okay to be a new fan

I have criticised newer fans a bit in this post but I wanna kinda excuse myself because I for sure do NOT hate newer fans. What I dislike is people who trend hop and thus, like kpop. I've been noticing it sooo much lately. It reminds me of fandoms like Squid game or Labubu's but in a different way. I also have interests that go away after a small amount of time. THAT DOES NOT MEAN, you should spent every penny you have on it. Being a new fan to kpop must be amazing. You can read thousands of fan fictions, get to know lore and even inspire outfits cuz that's what I absolutely love about this fandom. Or make your own creations using skills you got!! New fans can for sure alwaysss talk to me and ask me stuff and I'm happy to help you into the fandom or creating a guide. It's amazing that groups get the attention they deserve. Just don't fake being in the fandom for a longer time than you have.

Young fandom

Small part I wanna mention. As someone who got into kpop at the age of 8 (and got to know it as a 5 yr old), I think there needs to be a bit more attention to the kpop fandom's age. Liking kpdh is okay, and I liked it as well just that I didn't like the animations. But to many kids in a fandom makes kpop annoying aswell because I feel like a lot of times people forget that idols are fucking 30 like hello? I do baby them, BUT they are 30. They can make life decisions. My more concerning part in the younger fandom doesn't have to do with how they act, but rather the media they consume. Kpop groups always have concepts, but, a lot a of them have a more adult themed concept. Taking of shirts etc, or Jay Park ahh, throwing bra's on stage. Did I consume this media at a young age? Yes. But do I think they should? No. I don't really have an argument supporting this opinion. But I hope it's reasonable. I think kpop is suited around the age of 13 and older, not 7.

Nothing is experimental.

So, now something I do wanna talk about. Newer groups often have higher budgeting and have a concept at start. Before getting into this I definitely suggest checking out WEI and Kingdom if you want to support a more low budgeted group that deserves attention. I'm gonna use GD for this part. Back in the days balloons with a color were used to show support to groups. Like Shinhwa having Orange (btw I rlly love Shinhwa). But GD was the first to decide to do something different: light sticks. He also made certain things well accepted in kpop like dying hair, while back then you could lose your whole group for such a decision. But lately, everything is accepted and a lot of concepts feel copied from others (this is no reason to sent hate to groups btw!!). Some ideas I would love to see (more): Original korean culture mixed with pop like Arirang's song body to body but that as concept, Vkei concept, Emo concept (but realistic not just black eyeliner). I hope ya'll can understand this part lmao.

Positive aspects

I at the same time loveeee my fandoms getting bigger. More fanfics to read, more Lgbtq acceptance (this sounds weird but if your a kpop fan yk), higher budgeting for MV's and comebacks (sadly overworking artists), albums, more tours and more fans. Another thing is subtitles, fun fact, in 2008-2009 for example on: this archived page they had to translate posts on websites because there often weren't any official translations. Another positive thing is less bullying and more understanding from outside the fandom.

A few newer groups I'm into and why

When I say newer, I'm talking about new new. So like, the past, let's say, 3 years.

Zerobaseone: I like them for their extreme LGBTQ behaviour. This might sound weird asf. They formed through the survival show Boy planet giving me the opportunity to like them even more and become more emotionally attached. I love their bright concepts and as a fan it feels like I'm growing with them. My bias is Ricky!! Although they might be kinda falling apart since they split (TVXQ ahh situation)

Illit: I love them for achieving and having what New Jeans could've had (sorry not sorry, even if Nwjs will always have a special place in my heart). They had a veryyyy good debut and keep having hits after hits. Also having an easy entry fandom. I just mainly love them for their concept and my bias is Wonhee!!

TWS: very refresing concept with cute songs that are actually fun to listen to and I don't get tired of. Sadly I feel like they're a little bit underrated and their more unpopular songs get barely any deserved attention. I also feel like the fandom is smaller but that's probably not true. TWS feels kinda like a healing group and it has a bit of a sense of nonstalgia.

Boynextdoor: they actually have that feeling that older groups had. Catchy songs but it's never extremely polished and they feel extremely original. They always have cool MV's and I love their dances probably the most. I love their fandom aswell because there's a lot of cute tutorials of diy crafts out there. Super creative fandom for some reason.

LNGSHOT4SHO: my favourite group out of all of these. They say and do what they want and have an extremely good Ceo (Jay park). Fandom is a bit young buttt they got that nonsta vibe yk? My bias is Louis because we're both french and he's just funny. "I can smell the controversies a mile away" is genuinely a rude way ppl have described them. Anyways, the members are also open about dating and having ex gf's. We need more groups like them under Jay Park.

Other new groups that deserve attention: Cortis and Xlov, although I used to stan both I unstanned both for some personal reasons but for Xlov it was the young fandom and babying members which I just.. didn't exactly like (although i love their unisex concept) and for Cortis also their fandom.

Western validation

When I say western we're talking America, not Europe even if we're western. I feel like kpop companies are constantly searching for western validation such as making the group katseye or that JYP group VCHA (that has become girlset). Lately they're trying to validate America. Having thousands of tours there and often having global auditions. But the attention to Europe and Africa? None. English is becoming part of every album of kpop artists and some groups do barely any promotion outside of America. Seventeen has never had a tour in Europe for example and certain groups within NCT also never. Some appearances on festivals but that's it. While older groups focused a lot on France actually, like using french text in songs (even that wasn't common). America feels more important to companies probably because of Grammies and Billboard charts. Someone actually mentioned that in Europe, Kpop is more like a subculture than in the USA, since it's not mainstream. African fandoms are even self build since access to concerts basically doesn't exist, which I find sad for African fans.

The tiktok issue

The tiktok issue but more in depth. Maybe if you know me irl, you know that I DONT use tiktok anymore and just sometimes watch edits but thats like once in the 3 months. I made that decision because my fandoms are wayyyy to toxic and I was tired of waking up to fandom wars and hate trains. But my most concerning part of tiktok when it comes to kpop are mutliple things. Albums aren't fully listened to because people genuinely only listen to popular songs. I dont wanna be a 'name more than 3 songs' person but, a lot of songs deserve more recognition and I feel like people just don't give them what they deserve. Song are often ruined after seeing to many people on tiktok use it in videos, like some Illit songs for me. I just don't like certain songs anymore after hearing it daily.

Hate trains are probably the worst in my opinion. One person decides to post how much they hate an album and everyone decides to hate at one album at once. Like Arirang or Straykid's NOEASY era that people absolutely hated for no reason. Not liking an album does not mean you have to hurt fans and artists. People only able to listen to sped up versions irritates me aswell. Yes, there are some sped ups that are gen better than the og song. But still it ruins the song itself.

Must support at all costs.

I'm gonna be real on this one, I also do this. I've been in depth for an album and I've supported artists that have a little to many controversies like GD. But what I find annoying is that kpop pushes you to spent money. Due to social media and influencers, it feels extremely pushed to buy everything on the market and as an collector that is autistic, this feels incredibly real. I feel the need to collect all photocards under an album and all albums from a comeback. I do need to mention I'm really proud of BTS for not pushing photocards this comeback and having only one set with all 7 members in each album that come with the album not just 1 photocard. Another thing I hate is fans pushing you to vote. No but actually. I'm multi fandom and I can't decide who deserve a vote sometimes. Let me be for once please

Beauty

This is another reason I don't like younger people engaged in Kpop. Beauty standards are insanely high and actually unrealistic. Examples like Jimin diet (genuinely feel bad for him), Wooyoungism (which is good if it's healthy) and plastic surgeries being normalised. Also idols like Jonho from Ateez being called fat for having muscle (and changbin). Korean beauty more like harmful beauty standards. It also creates a very unrealistic vision of Korea that many Koreaboo's for example have.

Anyways yes, had to write my frustration out but it's 2 am and I should deffo go to sleep so let me know if you want a part 2 even if I don't have much more to yap and complain about on this part. Thanks for reading goodbye!!
